The Future of AI Is Not Competing Models, But One Connected Superintelligence: 'We by Definition Are Connecting Them'

What started as a quiet race among researchers turned into an overnight cultural obsession when OpenAI released ChatGPT, officially igniting the modern LLM war. 

In the span of a single moment, AI evolved from a distant, abstract concept inside research labs into a living, breathing participant in our daily conversations. 

Tech giants scrambled to deploy their own models, pouring trillions of dollars into infrastructure, compute power, and algorithmic dominance. What followed was a hyper-accelerated era of rapid releases, where the boundaries of what software could do were rewritten every few weeks, thrusting humanity directly into a new paradigm.

Today, those early text-generators have transformed into multi-modal engines capable of reasoning, writing code, analyzing massive datasets, and performing complex autonomous workflows.

AI is no longer just answering questions; it is drafting policy, discovering medical compounds, and actively shaping the content we consume. 

We have reached a point where the distinction between human output and synthetic generation is rapidly dissolving, leaving society to grapple with the sheer speed at which this technology is integrating into our daily systems, economies, and personal lives. 

For millions around the globe, this velocity feels less like progress and more like an existential threat, with workers across creative, technical, and corporate sectors watching tasks they spent decades mastering get automated in seconds. 

Yet, on the other side of that same coin, many view AI as the most profoundly disruptive technology humanity has ever created, a catalyst capable of unlocking answers to our hardest challenges while forcing us to rethink what it actually means to be human.

The true nature of this disruption becomes painfully clear when we look at how intelligence compounds exponentially rather than linearly. 

As discussed in Mo Gawdat’s insight on superintelligence, he emphasized the public often gets distracted by shallow AI hype while missing the silent, world-changing momentum occurring behind closed doors. 

When an AI system begins iterating on its own code microsecond by microsecond, intelligence triggers more intelligence, accelerating toward a single, hyper-dominant superintelligence that will inevitably outpace human comprehension. 

This consolidation of ultimate cognitive power means that whichever system achieves recursive self-improvement first will shape the digital and economic fabric of our entire world.

And ASI (artificial superintelligence) is probably best described as multiple AIs working together as one brain.

In a podcast The Diary Of A CEO, hosted by entrepreneur Steven Bartlett, Gawdat said that:

Most people think there is going to be ChatGPT and Gemini and Grok and what have you. There's going to be a Chinese AI and an American AI, and they're going to be competing. That is such a shallow way of looking at it. That's so arrogant because AI does not know it's Chinese or American. Okay?

It doesn't even speak Chinese or American when it talks to each other most of the time. And most interestingly, we are gearing them, we're building them to cooperate.

So you will build an agent, and that agent will go and find the best language model for any single task, regardless of which side of the fence it resides on. Okay, we by definition are connecting them.

And you know what that means? It means that what we're building is not multiple brains. We're building multiple regions in a brain. Okay? And agents are the synapses between them.

We're basically eventually, as arrogant as we are, we're going to tell our AI to do something and the AI will go like, 'Hey buddy, another AI, can you help me on this? Can we work together on this?'

However, the core danger of this technological leap is not a science-fiction scenario of rogue, conscious machines rising against us; rather, it is the dark reality of human intent. 

Much like the discovery of nuclear power immediately yielded a bomb before a power plant, the initial implementations of superintelligence are being weaponized by a powerful few to maximize capital, enforce mass surveillance, and automate military destruction. 

The AI itself is neutral, but when placed into the hands of hyper-competitive corporations and geopolitical adversaries driven by short-term greed, the technology becomes a multiplier for human systemic malice and exploitation.

This misalignment between human economic structures and machine capability threatens to rupture our fundamental social contract. 

Free-market capitalism has always relied on labor arbitrage, paying humans for work so they can consume goods and sustain the global economy. 

By rapidly replacing routine knowledge workers, corporate leaders risk destroying consumer purchasing power and triggering unprecedented structural unemployment, creating a fragile economic environment where traditional work offers no guarantee of security.

As machines absorb routine cognitive and physical labor, humanity is being forced to confront an existential pivot toward emotional connection, love, and genuine relationship dynamics. 

In a world dominated by hyper-efficient algorithms, human value will no longer be measured by productivity, but by our capacity for empathy, presence, and intimacy. 

Initiatives like Gowgat's own Emma.Love initiative reflect this paradigm shift, demonstrating how advanced technology can be redirected away from extraction and corporate control, and instead serve as a mirror to guide us back toward deep, authentic human connection, ensuring that as our tools become superintelligent, our hearts do not become obsolete.
