The Viral Billie Eilish's Tank Top Photos: 'Everyone Hates By Body'

Billie Eilish is the famous American singer-songwriter.

She made her debut in 2015, and through her catchy songs, she quickly propelled her fame in numerous countries, including the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, and more. She also received numerous accolades, including American Music Awards, Guinness World Records, MTV Video Music Awards, Brit Awards, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award.

She is also considered the youngest artist in Grammy history to win all four general field categories, in the same year.

But among other things she is also known for, is her baggy clothes.

The celebrity is known for her upsize attire when in public, until one day, she is seen with her famed dual-colored slime-green hair color, but with shorts and a tank top.

And this sparked continuous debate, love and hate, that the photos quickly went viral.

Billie Eilish won not one or two Gammy Awards, but four at the same time in 2020.
Billie Eilish won not one or two Gammy Awards, but four at the same time in 2020.

It was The Daily Mail that initially published photos of Billie Eilish without her signature baggy clothes.

Eilish happened to be in Los Angeles, and it seems that she didn't expect anyone to recognize her, or at least not taking any photos of her.

The photos ignited a viral conversations on 4chan and some other online platforms. But things heated up fast when at least one Twitter user was body-shaming the singer.

One Twitter user wrote that "in 10 months Billie Eilish has developed a mid-30's wine mom body."

Since that moment, Eilish's series of photos have been edited for humor.

Eilish is almost synonymous with baggy pants, a baggy top, and usually some kind of baggy outerwear. Her boyish-style attire is one of the things fans love about her grunge persona.

Initially, nobody would've thought about it, nor question the reasons why she chose to dress that way.

After all, Eilish was only 17.

It was only after the photos that went viral, that she reported explained her reasons for her style.

She said that it's the oversexualization of women that is pervasive everywhere, especially on social media, that made her to cover up her body.

As a Generation Z that grows up with social media platforms, Eilish knows how netizens can make inappropriate jokes to comments about the appearance of female bodies. This simply make many women to not be able to live in peace. Things can get worse because sometimes, even underage girls are also subjects to these remarks.

And here, Eilish knows how her relatively short height and large breasts could make others feel.

Eilish explained that in her younger years, she would starve herself, just to lose weight.

"I was, like, starving myself," Eilish said. "I remember taking a pill that told me that it would make me lose weight and it only made me pee the bed—when I was 12. It’s just crazy. I can’t even believe, like I—wow. Yeah. I thought that I would be the only one dealing with my hatred for my body, but I guess the internet also hates my body. So that’s great.”

Eilish went to great lengths to hide her assets, in order to avoid being sexualized.

But unfortunately for Eilish, in the end, she is only to be sexualized in the moment she is expecting the least.

"The internet hates women," she said.

"It made me really offended when people were like, 'Good for her for feeling comfortable in her bigger skin,'" she said. "Jesus Christ?! Good for me? F--- off!"

Whereas people started referring Eilish's figure to a "thick" body, and even made many perverted and inappropriate comments, her fans quickly came to her defense.

Still, the harsh comments didn't bother her too much.

"The more the internet and the world care about somebody that's doing something they're not used to, they put it on such a high pedestal that then it's even worse."

She even spoke about this pressure publicly.

"You have opinions, about my opinions, about my music, about my clothes, about my body. Some people hate what I wear, some people praise it, some people use it to shame others, some people use it to shame me. But I feel you watching."

"Nothing I do goes unseen. If I wear what is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I’m a slut … Would you like me to be smaller? Weaker? Softer? Taller? Would you like me to be quiet?” she sang in a short film, in which she took off a big black hoodie and then submerged herself into black slime.

"Do my shoulders provoke you? Does my chest? And my stomach? My hips? The body I was born with Is it not what you wanted?"

"There’s this picture of me running from my car to my brother’s front door on like a 110 degree day in a tank top. And people were like, ‘Damn, Billie got fat!’" she said, explaining what she was doing when the viral photo was taken. "And I’m like, 'Nope, this is how I look, you’ve just never seen it before!’ So that’s the most current [rumor].”

As Eilish grew a bit older, she started to befriend her body.

In an interview with Dazed, "Billie Eyelash" as an AI called her, said that has become a "bit more OK" with her body as time has passed, she explained.

But still, she told British Vogue that her body, particularly her stomach, remains her "deepest insecurity."

This explained why she occasionally wear corsets.

"My thing is that I can do whatever I want," she said. "It's all about what makes you feel good. If you want to get surgery, go get surgery. If you want to wear a dress that somebody thinks that you look too big wearing, f--- it — if you feel like you look good, you look good."

"At some point, I began to hate fame. I began thinking that I didn’t want anything any more, I wanted it to all go away. I became really unhappy. I mean, obviously there’s a ton of negativity, but it’s also so shocking how much love there is. It’s crazy," she said in another interview.

"Now I think fame is beautiful. You never get used to it, but now I’m finally happy."
