A firearm's trigger is a mechanism that acts like a switch.
On a handgun, pulling the trigger will swing forward the hammer on the back of the gun, to hit a tiny cap at the back of the bullet, igniting the primer, and propelling the bullet out of the barrel.
Even for the most-experienced gun wielder, a gun's safety lock should be on at all times, unless the gun is ready to be fired. For safety, and to also developing a safe habit, the trigger finger should always remain outside the trigger guard.
There is an old adage that said "keeping your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot."
Different guns can have different parts that work behind their triggers. But triggers are meant to be light. Sometimes, even the slightest pull can create the chain reaction enough to take one's life.
And that is what exactly happened in Pakistan.
A 14-year-old girl mistakenly fired a gun to herself, when attempting to create a video for TikTok.
The young Anam Solangi whose address was at Talab No 3, Hyderabad, in Sindh province, died from a gunshot that went through her abdomen.
Anam was brought to a hospital, but died during treatment.
The police said that it was an "accidental" event.
"The bullet went through her stomach causing her death," the police said, confirmed by the doctors and the preliminary investigators.
The bullet pierced her stomach, causing internal bleeding that costed her life.
The girl passed away just after being admitted to the hospital.
According to reports, she was playing with the gun, but unknowingly, the gun was loaded and armed.
It is suspected that the trigger of the gun was accidentally pressed.
This is not the first time a life has been lost due to the surging TikTok culture.
In the past, youngsters have died attempting various challenges on the platform, while others sustained injuries that are sometimes permanent.
While youngsters seem to be fearless, TikTok's growing popularity is forcing parents and authorities to figure out how to stop youngsters from hurting themselves.
And not just death or physical injuries, because the Chinese app has also been used to promote rape, animal cruelty, domestic violence, and others.
