Google AdSense

Google AdSense is a program run by Google that allows publishers in its network of content sites to serve automatic text, image, video, or interactive media advertisements that are targeted to site content and audience.

The AdSense program was originally named content targeting advertising in March 2003. The "AdSense" name was originally used by Applied Semantics, a competitive offering to AdSense. After Google acquired Applied Semantics in 2003, Google then adopted the name "AdSense".

These advertisements in AdSense are administered, sorted, and maintained by Google, and they can generate revenue on either a per-click or per-impression basis.
