Toshiba introduced a smartphone called PicoPhone 2. The device is claimed to be the first smartphone made in Indonesia. Toshiba's latest smartphone was launched on Wednesday 23 October 2013, at Djakarta Theater XXI Club, Jakarta.
The 2.6" screen smartphone uses the Android's Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The device is priced at Rp899,000 Virtually all manufacturing and assembly processes carried out by the Indonesian people in Indonesia.
"Although not all of the products in it are Indonesian products, such as CPU and the chip set that must be imported from China. This is because Indonesia does not have the necessary basic software manufacturers, but PicoPhone 2 is the first smartphone that is assembled in Indonesia with most of the original components are from Indonesia," said David Kartono, Managing Director of Toshiba.
