Some do it for the money, some do it for the challenge, or the thrills, or just for fun.
Playboy is well-known brand, widely recognized for its iconic rabbit head logo. The company encompasses a range of products and services beyond its magazine, to also include lifestyle and fashion, as well as clothing, accessories, and fragrances.
But in all, Playboy is known for being a place for adult entertainment where nudity is present.
And here, a Russian woman who is betting her chances for being recognized, modeled for the magazine in an online competition, to only realize that what she did had dire consequences.
The woman said that she is 'fired' from her "secret state service" job over her naked Playboy photos, and that she's left homeless because of it.
Her name is Anna Anufrieva, a young 27-year-old woman from Tyumen, a city on the Tura River, in the vast Russian region of Siberia.
Having no job, she said that she had to sell her apartment because she cannot afford her mortgage repayments.
"I have nowhere to live. No job, no boyfriend, no apartment," she said.
The natural redhead said that she couldn't resort to her family, because her father has refused to even speak with her.
"It is as if I committed a crime. My father stopped communicating with me, claiming I lost my shame in front of the whole country."
In an attempt to move on, she couldn't even land herself on a new job, saying that nobody wants to employ her, with companies said that "they made it clear that it was because of the scandal."
"But they invent dozens of reasons," Anufrieva said.
"Suddenly they do not have a vacancy any longer or say they found a better candidate."
As a result of what she did, Anufrieva said she has suffered weight loss and stress.
It all began when Anna Anufrieva was working as a government official, when she sent her nude images to Playboy in an online competition for earning the "Girl of the Year 2019" title.
The idea was to be featured in the magazine's annual calendar.
But it didn't take long until her superior knew about her side hustle, due to the fact that Anufrieva announced her work during the competition.
"I have such beautiful photos that I wanted to show them. And this is a bold step for me, but I want to be bold! In everyday life, I work in the civil service, play sports and just live, coming up with different plans and goals," she said at the time.
Following the controversy, Anufrieva had no choice but to leave.
"I made a decision to leave," she admitted.
"I think it’s unethical to discuss why I decided to do so as I respect my employer and don’t want to go into details."
She clarified that people should have the right for their own body, and not having anyone else dictate what to do and not to do with it.
"Why is it only models, actresses, fitness coaches and bloggers who are allowed to reveal their bodies?"
"Or are they also immoral and we are just used to it?"
State employees should be permitted to pose naked, she said.
"You all should get used to the thought that any woman who loves herself and cherishes her body can show it, including doctors, teachers and state servants."
She stated that her job as a government official had "some obligations, a certain lifestyle," but that work did not reflect her "inner world."
Anufrieva admitted that she was inspired to take nude photos by the heroine of the TV series Sex and the City.
When her racy photos caught up in online debates, especially after the public knew of her past prestigious job, she commented that she has no regrets.
"Some would say - was it worth it?" she said.
Despite not making it to the Playboy top 12, the chic apparatchik said she has no regrets in doing what she did.
"To lose a stable job in that secret state service, a prestigious position [...] It was all worth it [...] Take my honest word as a state servant."
"I like nude photography and I find the harmonious female body a form of perfection, so please don’t judge but just enjoy it."
It's worth noting that Anufrieva tried to repeat the success of another of another Playboy model, Lidiya Ponomareva , who became "Girl of the Year" the year before, according to Playboy.
Responding to the difficulties Anufrieva experienced after losing her job, Playboy magazine stood up for the Tyumen woman, and invited her to a remote casting. Lidiya Ponomareva also recorded a video in her support.
During the competition, Anufrieva was competing against other girls from Tyumen, like Violetta Grekhova, who submitted her application for the second time in a row, the famous Tyumen nude model Elina Müller, as well as the 24-year-old blonde student Kristina Zabolotnaya.
After the news settled, Anufrieva continue to model on social media, posting her travel to some countries, posing much less proactive than before.
Things changed for her, especially after settling down, married, and becoming a mother.
"I don't know if I have more children maybe I'll decide to have you a sister, a brother but if I had to have you 20 more times I would do it without a second thought despite the pain I went through. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me,"
