Sequel Of Alien: Isolation' Confirmed, And How The Internet Rejoices With Fear

Alien: Isolation stands out in the horror game genre for several reasons.

From the atmosphere and setting, in which the game captures the essence of the 1979 film Alien with its retro-futuristic design and claustrophobic environments, it also puts players into a unique condition where they have both the power and powerlessness. Here, they have tools and weapons, but those are often ineffective against the xenomorph.

Alien: Isolation is a 2014 survival horror game developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Based on the Alien film series, the game is set 15 years after the original 1979 film. It follows the protagonist Amanda Ripley, an engineer who is also the daughter of Ellen Ripley. In the game, she investigates the space station Sevastopol, which has fallen into disarray due to an alien creature on the loose.

The xenomorph can be anywhere, and catch players in any location and condition.

In Alien: Isolation, no where is safe.

This forces players to rely on stealth and strategy.

The game also relies more on sustained tension and psychological horror rather than cheap jump scares. The constant threat of the alien creates a pervasive sense of dread.

And because it highlights survival mechanics, players have to have the wits and will to survive the horror, to face the terror, and by keep on advancing by never staying put.

The only way to to live, is to avoid, outsmart the alien, which means that keep moving is the key of survival.

This time, Creative Assembly celebrates the 10th anniversary of Alien: Isolation with an announcement.

The developer said that a sequel to the game is already in development.

In a message, Creative Assembly's creative director Alistair Hope said that:

To our fans around the world,

It’s hard to believe that it has been 10 years since we embarked on our journey with the release of Alien: Isolation.

When we started developing Alien: Isolation, we had one guiding principle: to create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the Alien franchise—a new story capturing the atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece.

It’s been nothing short of incredible to witness your passion for the game over the years and see it reach so many players around the world.

On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear.

Today, I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.

Once again, thank you.

Until next time,

Al Hope, Creative Director, Alien: Isolation

Alien: Isolation is one of those games where players want to finish as quickly as they can in order to move on, but wouldn't due to the mechanics involved.

On average, players take about 18 hours to complete the main story of Alien: Isolation. If they also engage in side missions and additional content, the playtime extends to around 22 hours.

For those aiming to achieve 100% completion, it can take up to 30 hours.

Some players do rush through the game, but most have shared that the game's intense atmosphere and suspenseful gameplay, are too scary for them.

Some players find this level of fear and anxiety challenging to handle, which can make it difficult for them to finish the game.
