YouTube Video Showing A Man Doing Nothing For 2 Hours Straight Went Viral

The internet is full of craziness and things unimaginable. But since its contents are made by people who have different thoughts and opinions, the internet has become a colorful place where anything can happen.

And anything includes things that go viral, simply because they are unique.

This time, a Madurese man from Indonesia has managed to earn millions of views on his YouTube video, by simply doing nothing for two hours straight.

Muhammad Didit uploaded a video of himself just staring into nothingness on July 10th on his YouTube channel sobat miskin official (translates from Indonesian: poor friends official).

The entire video that runs for 2 hours, 20 minutes and 52 seconds, wasn't meant to be that long. Didit said that his initial plan was to make the video to last 10 minutes, but in an interview, he said that once he got into it, he felt that he was going strong, so kept on going.

As a result, Didit ended up sitting in his room much longer than expected.

The video that translates from Bahasa Indonesia to 2 hours of not doing anything, isn't meant to go viral in both Indonesia and overseas, as Didit himself was surprised. He just shoot the video because he wanted to.

But still, he was prepared for the take.

He said that he had eaten some food and drank some water, and also went to the bathroom prior to the shot.

During the 2 hour-long video where he was shown 'daydreaming', Didit was more worried about his parents calling for him than having to be depreciated of some of his basic human needs.

“If I don’t answer them, I’ll get into trouble,” Didit said.

Didit's approach of creating a video, inadvertently show how even a very contrast method of creating a YouTube content, can also appeal the masses.

When content creators tend to brainstorm and do all sorts of things to create the most appealing content they possibly can, Didit simply did the other way around, but still succeeded in making it viral.

The video was only meant to be a sarcastic way to respond to his commenters who asked him to create more positive and educational content for the Indonesian youth.

"That's it. That's what I did," he said.

Prior to posting the video, Didit only had 2,000 subscribers. As of August 15, his channel has grown to more than 36,000 subscribers.

It should be noted that Didit isn't the first who did this kind of video, as there have been a number of other Indonesians who have posted similar content to YouTube. But none however, went as viral as Didit.

Didit went viral, and many created memes of him. His video was also trending on 9GAG among other platforms. It even has its own Wikipedia page, in several languages.

Didit didn't expect to receive such huge attention, since his only intention was to only create the video for his subscribers. Prior to this, most of his videos focused on food.

The YouTube comment section was flooded with attention, even from the media, with some saying that Didit should register the video for the Cannes Film Festival; while others imagined Didit forgetting to press the "Record" button and wasting his time.[4] Many challenged Didit to make a similar video but with longer duration, or follow-up videos.
