Memorabilia From Johnny Depp-Amber Heard Defamation Trial Sell For Thousands Of Dollars On eBay

People have idols. And when their idols are involved in something, as fans, those people would want to be part of it.

The same goes to fans of Johnny Depp, during the time when he was involved in a defamation trial with his ex-wife, Amber Heard.

After the actor announced his victory over his ex-wife, fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean star are happy for him. And some others who wish to be part of the celebration, are clamoring to get a piece of the action his defamation trial.

In this case, wristbands from court at Fairfax County, Virginia, are being auctioned online for big money.

Many people are eager to own the paper wristband, with some willing to spend $5,000 to buy just one of it.

Those wristbands, which are not fancy or specially made, "are your typical paper wristbands you see at events.”

The sheriffs at the Fairfax County courthouse distributed the wristbands as a crowd control measure, knowing that the trial is a highly publicized trial, and attracted a large number of vocal Depp fans in particular.

In other words, the disposable, color-coded paper wristbands are the only things that gave the wearer access to the courtroom.

Many people are willing to buy the wristbands, simply because they have become a part of pop culture history.

Because of this, fans consider the wristbands priceless.

And not only the court's wristbands that are being sold.

Later, it was reported that Larry Foreman, a citizen of the state of Kentucky, travelled nearly 800 kilometers to attend the sessions that took place in Virginia. At the time, he wrote notes in his notebook about what he perceived in the courtroom.

As an attorney, Foreman wrote everything that happened in the courtroom in his professional perspective, including the jury's reactions to the actors' painful recollections of the violence they experienced during their time as a couple.

Foreman wrote up to 20 pages a day with details that the television cameras present at the scene failed to capture.

Once the trial was concluded and as a way to make a profit for his hard work, Foreman came up with the idea of auctioning his notebook.

Auctioning on eBay, price started at $14,000.

It all began when Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were embroiled in a contentious defamation trial with the actor suing the Stepfather actress for $50 million over allegations of abuse in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed she penned.

Heard countersued her ex-husband for $100 million.

A verdict was reached on June 1, with the jury awarding Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. Virginia law states that punitive damages must be capped at $350,000, meaning Depp will actually receive a maximum total of $10.35 million.

As for Heard, she was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages and no punitive damages.

In the days following the multimillion-dollar verdict, it has been reported that Heard is “broke” and couldn't afford the hefty judgement due to mounting legal costs and alleged lavish spending.

After the conclusion was read, Head said that she was “disappointed with what this verdict means for other women.”

“I’m sad I lost this case. But I am sadder still that I seem to have lost a right I thought I had as an American — to speak freely and openly,” Heard added.

Depp on the other hand, said he was "humbled" and that he was "overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and the colossal support and kindness from around the world."
