Samsung is the conglomerate giant from South Korea. Considered among the largest companies, Samsung is sitting on huge resources.
And because of that, the company is able to make some of the best-selling, high-end Android smartphones.
This time, the company has just reached its highest global smartphone market share in five years.
In April 2022, Samsung was the best-selling smartphone brand with a market share of 24%. This is its highest it’s been since June 2017.
The source behind its success, is the sales of its flagship device, and its lower-cost series, which is the Galaxy S22 series, and the Galaxy A phones, respectively.
Samsung hasn’t reached this level of global dominance since 2017, the year where its market share was 25%.

While Samsung was only 1% shy of topping that record in April 2022, the company was doing a lot better than competitors.
Apple for example, the U.S.-based company considered Samsung's largest rival in the mobile industry, has its market share plummeted to 15%.
Apple was followed by Xiaomi, which held 12% of global smartphone market sales in April.
It's worth noting though, that aside from its successful smartphone sales, Samsung's increased market share was also driven by some other factors.
For example, the South Korean giant has a more robust supply chain management and a healthy supply-demand balance, even when compared to Apple.
Samsung also made a huge impact in India, and attractive promotions in core markets, including Latin America, have also helped the company expand its presence.
But among the big factors that contribute to its success, Samsung has maintained a low exposure in China.
In the country considered the world's largest smartphone market, things were severely affected by local lockdowns related to the pandemic.
These restrictions have impacted both demand and production.

Because Samsung has a small presence in China, both from a sales and manufacturing perspective, the company has little to lose.
This time, Samsung is readying itself to release the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 in August-September.
The launch of the two products should cement Samsung's position until the end of the year.
But of course, Apple is also readying itself, because in September, the company plans launch the iPhone 14 series, which should rival Samsung's most powerful phones.
