The field of AI used to be slow-moving, a bit dry, and often reserved for niche interests. But that all changed dramatically.
It all began when OpenAI launched ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot capable of performing a wide variety of tasks — from crafting poetry and composing technical papers to writing novels and essays.
Its viral success captured the attention of the world. And from there, everything accelerated.
OpenAI's breakthrough sparked a wave of innovation, pushing other tech companies to develop their own generative AI tools in response.
And Adobe's response is Firefly.
Design to enhance its array of existing tools, Adobe is stepping up its game in the generative AI race.
After introducing Firefly to desktop, this time, Adobe is expanding to tool to mobile with a new Firefly app available on both iOS and Android.

In the announcement, Adobe said that:
"The new Firefly mobile app gives you the freedom to generate images and videos wherever you are, using the same technology underlying many of the most powerful features in Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Lightroom."

The Firefly apps offer access not only to Adobe’s own models but also to models from major players like OpenAI (for image generation), Google (Imagen 3 and Veo 2), and Flux (Flux 1.1 Pro).
The company is now also supporting more third-party models, including Flux.1 Kontext by Black Forest Labs, Ideogram 3.0 by Ideogram, and Gen-4 Image by Runway.
Just like the web version, the mobile app allows users to generate content via prompts—images, videos, or converting one into the other.
Users can also take advantage of features like generative fill to edit parts of an image or generative expand to extend visuals beyond their original frame. They can also use generative expand, text to image, text to video, and image to video.
Adobe Creative Cloud subscribers benefit from seamless integration: start a project on mobile, and pick it up later on the web or desktop app with everything stored in the cloud.
With the app, users can do things, like create everything from "b-roll to video backgrounds to hero images and put them in memes, blogs, presentations, posters and anything that can use a little visual pizzaz."
Besides the introduction of the Firefly apps, Adobe also introduced new features and updates across Lightroom, Photoshop, and Illustrator — all designed to help users move from idea to final delivery faster than ever.
"Whether you’re refining hundreds of photos, fine‑tuning typography, resizing vector graphics, or moodboarding your next campaign, the latest Creative Cloud update delivers speed, precision, and smarter AI to power your workflow," said Adobe in a blog post.
