A9.com is a subsidiary of the retailing giant Amazon.com, based in Palo Alto, California. A9 that provide search and advertising technology, develop efforts in product search, cloud search, visual search, ads technology and community question answering.
A9 was created by Amazon.com as an independent company aimed at producing technology that moves in Search and Advertising. The A9 search engine powers product search for Amazon.com and several other eCommerce retailers. Its first president, Udi Manber, its first CEO, contributed much of its growth before he left Amazon in 2006 to work with Google as one of their Vice Presidents of Engineering.
In 2009, A9 acquired SnapTell, an independent provider of smartphone-based visual search applications.
